During lockdown, workers in Dry Waste Collection Centres (DWCCs) are dealing with hazardous waste, and are unable to segregate and transport waste on time.
Access to safe water, electricity, food and identity cards were among the demands placed by waste pickers in a memorandum submitted to the State Government and the BBMP.
With help from waste management group Hasiru Dala, over 100 children of waste pickers get government-sponsored scholarships worth more than 2 lakh rupees!
