On the occasion of ‘World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse’, Inventure Academy cordially invites you to a unique event, ‘Our Safety, Our Voice’ – By The Children, For the Children, Of The Children.
Bengaluru is awash with policies and guidelines issued by different stakeholders on how schools can be made safe for children. However, students’ views have largely not been taken into consideration.
What makes this initiative a truly unique one is that the children, probably for the first time, are being given an opportunity to voice their feelings and concerns about this unnerving situation. Also, another very important differentiator is that this initiative has recognised the fact that the fears and solutions for children from different socio-economic backgrounds, will be different.
Inventure Academy in partnership with Enfold will provide a platform for children of varied ages, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds to voice their feelings and opinions on personal safety, and how different stakeholders can contribute to making children safe everywhere.
240 students from grades four to twelve from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds will come together at Inventure Academy.
Event 1: Students will work in groups to express their thoughts and feelings about child abuse. They may express their feelings in words (prose, poetry, slogans), art (painting, poster, sketch), dance (mime, skit, emotive movement) or music. A team from Enfold will interact with the students to facilitate a discussion about their presentations, and provide guidance on personal safety concepts, rules, and child rights.
Event 2: Students will work in groups to come up with recommendations, and campaign ideas that they would like to see their parents, schools, police and government adopt for child safety.
Event 3: Enfold Proactive Health Trust will release a CD and book preview for parents on Child Safety.
Event 4: Skits, dance and music prepared by the students in the morning session will be presented. Their artwork will be showcased in the school premises for the invitees.
Event 5: Students’ ideas and suggestions will be presented as a Charter to invited parents, principals and teachers, and members of the civil society. This will also be shared with the media. This session will be facilitated by CMCA and a charter committee comprising of Inventure grade 12 students.
