640 people from Karnataka stranded in J&K floods, around 200 rescued

Disaster Management Cell has published the list of missing persons from Bangalore, rescued and stranded in Jammu-Kashmir.

A press note from the Information Department, Bengaluru, issued by Deputy Director to Government, Disaster Management, said that around 640 tourists from the state have been stranded in Jammu-Kashmir floods, out of which around 200 people have been saved.

IAS officers Ramandeep, Commissioner of Hubli-Dharwad and Mohankumar from Karnataka Bhavan, New Delhi, have been sent to Srinagar in order to coordinate the rescue of people. As many as 30 people have been taken to Srinagar airport. Around 70 people have been sent to Delhi via flights. Around 200 people from Karnataka are at the Rajbhavan helipad waiting to be air-lifted.

People have been requested to contact Suprasanna (9868393971 and Shambhulingappa (9868393989) from Karnataka Bhavan if they need help in travelling to Bangalore from Delhi.

Similarly there are arrangements made to ensure those who are returning from Jammu-Kashmir  reach their homes safely from Bangalore airport. Contact K V Rama (8050831319), Prahlad (9844075683) and Jayavibhaswamy (9844065683) if help is required.

The details of the people who are still missing can be given to the helpline 1070 or 080-22340676, which would be followed up by the state’s Disaster Management Cell.
