[flexiblemap src=”http://data.opencity.in/Data/Karnataka-Assembly-Constituency-154-1.kml” width=”100%” height=”400px”]

Located in the southwest of Bengaluru, Rajarajeshwari constituency is among the four largest assembly segments in the city. This constituency was carved out of Uttarahalli assembly constituency. With more than 4.54 lakh voters, this residential and commercial centre also has a number of educational institutions.

Rajarajeshwari constituency’s nine wards are Rajarajeshwarinagar, Laggere, Kottegepalya, Jnanabharathi, HMT, Jalahalli, J P Park, Laxmidevi Nagar and Yeshwanthpur. The constituency is named after Rajarajeshwari Temple. The Global Village Tech Park, with a number of IT companies, is an important hotspot site here.

Lack of development of lakes is a major worry. The biggest problem is dumping of waste at Laggere. Citizens are deeply worried that in the last four years, almost 40,000 loads of debris and waste have got dumped in the area, which gave the area the name of ‘Laggere Rakshasha Halla’, roughly meaning the devil’s lake. It has created a lot of health problems and groundwater pollution too, according to activists. Another issue that angers the citizens here is the traffic mess. At the entrance arch to the colony, traffic is known to collect for a mile.
