The first ever edition of 6 Red Snooker Men’s State Ranking kicked on 25th August, at Karnataka State Billiards Association (KSBA) hall near Vasanthnagar. The Women State Ranking will be played from 27 to 30 August 2011. The games are being played under new International Billiards & Snooker Federation(IBSF)/ Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) rules. A total of 97 entries were received and matches will be played on a knockout basis to identify top 16, who will then form four leagues to compete for quarter finals. Far away from the booming crowds of Freedom Park, the protest for Jan Lokpal turned several notes melodious on Saturday, 20th August. An all-night concert was organised by Kumaresh, one half of the sibling violinist  duo, Ganesh-Kumaresh to express their support for Anna Hazare's protest. Over 40 musicians performed at the 106 year old Gayana Samaj on K R Road in Basavanagudi, one of the oldest cultural organisations in the country. In its third day, the Bangalorean protest for Jan Lokpal at Freedom Park does not seem to be slowing down in the least. What began with large masses of students in support of Anna Hazare has now broadened into drawing Bangaloreans from several other walks of life. Thousands more gathered on Thursday August 18th, stepping up their demand for passing the Anna Hazare version of the Lokpal bill in Parliament. Karnataka State Billiards Association (KSBA) announced the first '6 Reds Snooker Karnataka State Ranking Tournament 2011', for men and women. 6-red, also known as six-red, is a shorter format of snooker which is played with six red balls instead of the standard fifteen. David Ramanath, former Karnataka State hockey player who also played for Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Bangalore, passed away in Illinios, Chicago, USA on 7th August after protracted illness for some months. He was with RBI for 15 years and there after migrated to USA. Karnataka State Hockey Association offered their condolences for his passing away and noted in their press release, "He was a jovial person and endeared himself to one and all." The India Against Corruption group at Bangalore announced the results of the 'referendum' on the Lokpal Bill from the Chikkaballpur and Bangalore South parliamentary constituencies. The results indicated a clear majority for strengthening the Lokpal. Ninety-three per cent of people in Chikkaballapur and eighty-six per cent of South Bangalore constituency want the Prime Minister to come under the ambit of Lokpal.
