The Indian Motor Vehicles Act makes it compulsory to wear a BIS standard helmet when riding a two wheeler. It has been proven that wearing a standard helmet can reduce the risk of fatality by 40% and severe injury by 70%. Yet 70–80% of the helmets sold in the country are spurious. Sanjaynagar Main Road is a key commercial road which has a lot of shops and is the lifeline of commerce for the wards 18, 19, 20 and 35. It has been found that the road has no footpath/sidewalk. It has only drain covers on which people walk. These drain covers are inadequate to provide a safe and continous walking experience. It is unsafe for people especially senior citizens and children. Dear Government of Karnataka, Of late, there has been a lot of hand wringing over the traffic congestion. Various solutions are being proposed by citizens claiming to be experts, advisors and well wishers. Most of these solutions revolve around adding extra asphalt, at grade, overhead and underground. Another Railway Budget has come and gone from the “acche din” government. However, there has been no mention of Commuter Railway for Bengaluru. The biggest beneficiary of these services are people of the city.
