Buddha meditated under the Peepal tree for a full 49 days before enlightenment. For RV Quizcorp, the timeline is eleven years and counting. The exclusive quiz club of RV College of Engineering, one of the first of its kind, is all set to conduct the eleventh edition of its annual quiz fest- Under The Peepal Tree 2009.
Started as a platform to explore the vast multitudes that quizzing had to offer in terms of depth and variety by well-known quizzers Avinash Mudaliar and Gopal Srinivasan, RV Quizcorp has built an indomitable reputation for churning out stellar quizzes and quizzers alike. RV Quizcorp now holds a number of college level quizzes through the year, the highlight of which is Under The Peepal Tree (UTPT), renowned to be the biggest quiz fest in the country.
Friday, 20th March
9.30 AM – Indigenius, the India Quiz. A quiz on all things Indian. Get ready to be surprised by India’s various flavours. The ultimate test of your India quotient.
2 PM – The General Quiz. A marathon quiz that spans topics such as current affairs to entertainment. Sport to history. Art to science and beyond to everything else. The most competitive of the set of college quizzes.
Saturday, 21st March
9.30 AM – Psi-Tech, The Science and Technology Quiz. A quiz on cutting edge technology and science you thought you knew. UTPT has a formidable reputation for shock-and-awe science fundas.
2 PM – Game Theory, The Sports Quiz. The ultimate test of sports lovers’ funda-cracking abilities.
3 PM – Audi Vidi Vici, The Audio Visual Open Quiz. Watch the best in the business in action as this open quiz sees master quizzing brains from all over south India fight it out over who knows how much.
Sunday, 22nd March
6 PM – Fine Answers, The Corporate Quiz. A quiz exclusively for corporate houses. Erudite minds battle it out for corporate glory.
The preceding editions have seen participation from some of the best quizzers of the region; the notable ones being from he IITs, IIMs, NITs, XLRI, NLS,BMSCE, among the hundreds vying for top honours. This year’s attendance promises to be only bigger and better with teams from colleges all over Bangalore and otherwise taking part in the quiz line-up. UTPT 2009 will be marked by six quizzes held over three days.
All quizzes have been constructed so as to appeal to a vast array of people. Unlike trivia quizzes, these quizzes are heady mix of questions that require both knowledge and puzzle-solving skills, making it a treat to take a shot at and equally enjoyable to watch. The venue for all the five quizzes is the RV Teachers College, 2nd Block Jayanagar.
UTPT offers quizzers not only the exhilaration that quality quizzes and cracking fundas are all about, but also materialistic incentives such as staggering amounts of prize money (in these times of recession and vanishing college fests). Audience prizes too are up for grabs.
Students and corporates must carry relevant ID proof/business cards to the quizzes. All quizzes (except The AV Open, for which, teams are allowed a maximum of four participants) are for teams of a maximum of three members. RV Quizcorp is a group of 30 engineering students from Karnataka’s premier engineering college, RVCE. RVCE has a rich and extensive quizzing culture which has seen us host and win some of the most reputed quizzing events in the country.
Quiz Corp is one of the oldest college-quizzing clubs in India. Quiz Corp has sent three teams to Siddhartha Basu’s University Challenge. In recent years, Quiz Corpers have won at quizzes such as The Tata Crucible, The IMS Quiz, IIT Madras Saarang(Lone Wolf, Sports and Entertainment Quiz), TransITions (The annual Cognizant quiz), National Law School’s annual fest besides nearly every college level quiz in Bangalore.
