The guidebook is published by Oorvani Media, which is also the publisher of Citizen Matters, the newsmagazine focused on Bangalore and its neighbourhoods. The book has step-by-step guides, FAQs and information for getting things done in Bangalore. It has chapters devoted to public services to property matters, school boards to driving licenses, voting to saving water to filing FIRs and more.

“Most people wouldn’t know where to go for public services like taxes, khatas and other services. But this book will surely help them out. This book is very useful for middle class and I think it should be published in Kannada as well,” said MLA Vijayakumar while releasing the book.

He also added that the book gives a very clear picture on all the government services useful for the people, for which they are always confused. The book has received praise from several people who felt it was long overdue.

Also present at the function in Jayanagar were N S Mukunda, President of Citizen’ Action Forum, and Ashwin Mahesh, state government advisor and ABIDe member. “The information required to conduct daily life in the city is definitely going to help all of us get our work done without involving ourselves in corruption. Living in Bengaluru is an extremely useful book. It was a long felt need and it will help citizens in saving time and effort”, said Mukunda.

“Information contained in the book can help empower citizens. It is also a chance for citizens to contribute their knowledge and learning for the larger public”, said Mahesh. (Mahesh is also a director at Oorvani Media).

“This is the most comprehensive, all encompassing book that I have come across on a city… be it public service, health, environment, safety, or a guide to move about, Living in Bengaluru has it all. A welcome addition to every Bengalurean’s collection”, said Pranesh S, Managing Director of Prism Books Pvt Ltd, distributor of Living in Bengaluru.

The book is available at all major independent and chain bookstores in the city. Details are on the web at www.citizenmatters.in/living-in-Bengaluru.
