Cue sports: Billiards association felicitates Varsha Sanjeev, Pankaj Advani and others

The Karnataka State billiards Association (KSBA), on 6th September, felicitated National Billiards & Snooker Championship winners and achievers in the recently concluded Nationals, which were held at Chennai. The event was held at KSBA hall near Vasanth Nagar.

The following players were felicitated at the event.

Varsha Sanjeev, 15, a ninth standard student at Sophia High School, received a cash award of Rs 30,000. She is the first triple title winner from Karnataka. She won the Sub Junior Billiards, Sub Jr Snooker, Junior Billiards.

Uma Devi Nagaraj 46, received a cash award of Rs 20,000. She has been Billiards State No 1 nine and won the Billiards National for the third time.

Pankaj Advani, who just turned 26 two months back, has won five snooker and four billiards title previously. This is his fifth billiards title at the Nationals., taking his tally to ten titles.

B Bhaskar, 40, has been a State Billiards champion 14 times. He was the National Billiards Runner up for the second time.

I H Manudev, 36, has been State Snooker champ four times. He was ranked at number six last year at the Nationals. He climbed two spots to reach fourth this year.

M Chitra, 38, has been State Snooker champion five times and two-time Billiards champion. She made the highest break by women in Indian Snooker – 74 at Chennai Nationals.

M.L.Lakshman, 16 years, just joined Presidency College PUC. He is ranked second in billiards and third in snooker in the State. He came third in Sub Junior Billiards and Junior Snooker.

Mundir Sherazi, 19, is ranked fourth in both Junior Billiards & Snooker.
