New Jayanagar building for library, gov offices

The BBMP is building a multi-storey building to house various government departments and an e-library, under one roof, at 39th cross, 11 main, Jayanagar V block.

B N Vijaya Kumar, Jayanagar MLA performed Guddali Pooja on July 29th at the site. He says, "the first preference is for a e-Library (to be housed up in the building), where students can come and prepare for their competitive and other exams". The list of government offices which will be housed there is not yet decided, he adds. B Somashekar, Corporator of Shakambari ward-179 also attended the function.

The plot size is about 144×64 feet and the building is expected to cost about Rs 151.25 lakhs with three floors. The plan is to have a parking facility in the ground floor, the library in the first and the rest of the offices for government departments.

Tree planting at lakeside

125 tree saplings were planted on the periphery of the Puttenahalli Lake on Saturday, July 17th 2010. The programme was jointly organised by the BBMP and Puttenahalli Neighbourhood Lake Improvement Trust (PNLIT). Satish Reddy (MLA, Bommanahalli), Corporators L Ramesh (Puttenahalli) and Purushottam Ravi (Arekere) attended the function and planted saplings. Residents of the area turned up in large numbers along with their children to plant trees.
