Nagapura and Shivnagara wards get a facelift thanks to two B.CLIP participants

Two participants of the B.CLIP program spearheaded a clean-up drive involving the community in Nagapura and Shivnagara wards. This is only the beginning they say.

Sudheendra and Channa Keshava, two civic activists undergoing the civic leadership training (B.CLIP) from B.PAC, organised a waste management awareness program in their wards on Saturday.

Nagapura and Shivnagara wards in Bengaluru saw the coming together of the local community, elected representatives, pourakarmikas and the local government school children on the morning of January 10th, for a noble cause.

So far several wards across Bengaluru such as Shivnagara, Nagapura, Kadugodi, Marappanpalya, Bapuji Nagara, Malleshwaram and Vidyaranyapura have been significantly benefitted from the initiatives of the leadership training program, and the multiplier effect will slowly but surely change the landscape of our city.

The cleanliness drive began with a black spot removal at Nagapura. It was followed by a walkathon by government school children. The walkathon was flagged off by S Harish, councilor, Nagapura ward, who said that he was very happy that youngsters such as Sudheendra and Channa Keshava are taking up for much needed civic causes and that he would extend his unconditional support for all such initiatives in his ward.

The children from the local government school participated in the walkathon with much gusto. They spread the message of a cleaner and greener neighborhood to the residents.

The walkathon ended in Shivnagar, where another black spot was removed with the help of pourakarmikas. Sloganeering by the participants ensured that it was a spirited affair throughout.

Post this a solid waste management awareness program was organised at Gangamma Thimaiah High school where the do’s and don’ts of segregation was explained to the residents by B.CLIP participant, Ravikumar S.

Pledge taking during the awareness program

Ex-MLA, Narendra Babu, presented the pledge and urged the community to participate in the campaign by segregating their garbage daily and taking ownership of their neighborhood.

Revathy Ashok, CEO and Managing Trustee B.PAC stressed on the importance of finding sustainable solutions to the garbage menace in the city and the responsibility of the local community in preserving the efforts put in by Sudheendra and Channa Keshava.

Sudheendra, Channakeshava, Manjunath—councilor Shivnagar ward and Narendra Babu—ex-MLA, with pourakarmikas.

Manjunath, councilor, Shivnagar ward lauded the efforts of the pourakarmikas in the ward for their work and extended his full support to this cause. During the program 10 pourakarmikas were felicitated for their exceptionally great quality of service in their ward.

Sudheendra and Channa Keshava were thrilled to see the kind of support that they received from the residents of the ward. “This is only the beginning. We will take up this cause in a big way and create a movement and will rest only when our wards are cleaner, greener and safer for all,’ they said.
