About Mahadevapura

[flexiblemap src=”http://data.opencity.in/Data/Karnataka-Assembly-Constituency-174-1.kml” width=”100%” height=”400px” ]

Mahadevapura constituency covers infrastructure-deficient, newly urbanised areas like Whitefield, Varthur and Bellandur. It also includes the infamous Mandur area, where Bengaluru’s garbage used to be dumped not long ago. The area struggles with

  • extreme water scarcity with almost the entire population dependent on private tanker water supply
  • lack of sewerage networks resulting in polluted lakes
  • traffic jams and high levels of pollution especially on Outer Ring Road
  • very little open spaces and parks for the public.

For more info on the constituency, check our article 5 years ago: Not much has changed!  Click here: About Mahadevapura and its key demand

The constituency has active citizenry bargaining with the administrations for better infrastructure and quality of life. Whitefield Rising, a citizen group, has been active in getting more and more eligible people registered as voters, with its Million Voter Rising campaign.

  • No. of voters in 2008: 2,75,355
  • No of voters in 2013:  3,68,511
  • No of voters now: 470,878.
