Do you love wild birds? Are you keen to reach out to children and others and share your enthusiasm for birds with them? If so, this workshop by Early Bird is for you.
You may already conduct bird walks and slideshows on birds, or perhaps you haven’t yet, but would like to start activities like these. Either way, this workshop will introduce you to a variety of techniques and activities to get children and adults excited about birds. Apart from the more ‘conventional’ activities, we will also cover other creative avenues including sketching, skits and more — making learning fun while sensitizing children about birds.
Attend the workshop to learn about different activities and materials that you can use, meet others with similar interests, and discuss various issues to do with introducing birds into the lives of children and adults. All those who participate will be given a certificate of participation.
The workshop will include sessions on:
The goals of bird education: what are we trying to do?
‘Traditional’ activities and how to make them more effective.
Other ideas, including using sketching, games and storytelling/poetry
Discussion of other issues (eg. how to make contact with schools)
Sharing of experiences — by Ulhas P.A.
Garima Bhatia, Abhisheka K, Suhel Quader — Nature Conservation Foundation.
Who can apply?
Anyone with an interest in birds and an enthusiasm for taking birds to the uninitiated (children and adults). You don’t have to be an expert birder! Note that this workshop is not for children.
Cost and Registration
A nominal fee of Rs.300/- will be charged (payable in advance to reserve your seat) for the workshop which includes hands-on activity training, resource material, and refreshments (but not lunch).
