Over the past few decades, Bengaluru has been transformed from a quiet ‘garden city’ to a bustling ‘Silicon Valley’, hosting some of the major IT firms from across the world. The city, however, is also paying a price for its success: long traffic jams, overflowing sewers, disappearing lakes, rising temperatures and inadequate infrastructure. Culturally too, the city is witnessing a growing conflict between different ethnic groups based on language and gender. The city would soon become unlivable if timely policy interventions are not made.
The onus lies on us as responsible citizens to engage and deliberate on sustainable solutions for the future.
